Meet Trader Rich
I’m Richard—better known here as Trader-Rich. I grew up a Navy brat in the 80s and 90s, moving from base housing to nearby neighborhoods, riding bikes until dark, running to 7-Eleven, and figuring things out along the way.
We moved to Maine when I was a freshman in High School and, outside of a stint in Indiana and New Hampshire, I’ve lived here for my entire adult life.
Somewhere along the line, I fell in love with cocktails, rum, and the strange, tangled history behind them. By the late 2000s and early 2010s, I’d gotten married, started a family, and—almost by accident—become a Disney Adult. The tiki culture at Disney’s Polynesian Resort tied it all together: escapism, storytelling, and cocktails that still inspire me today.
Trader-Rich is where those threads meet—a tiki-esque spirit with a practical, Mainer’s perspective and a dry sense of humor. No syrupy myths, no gimmicks. Just good drinks, honest bottles, and stories worth sipping to.
